TEPHRI-TRAP®
Tephri Trap® is a Mcphail type trap that includes all the latest results in scientific research carried out over many other countries. It is a strong and durable trap (2-3 years or more if correctly handled), designed for all Tephritid flies (medfly, olive fly, cherry fly, Anastrepha, Dacus, Bactrocera, Drosophila suzukii, etc…) but can be adapted to any other insect that can be attracted by active substances of any type, such as sexual, pheromones, or food attractant. It is a versatile trap. It works both, wet (450 CC) and dry, with solid attractants (Trimedlure, Cue lure, Methyl Eugenol) or liquid attractants (Hydrolysed proteins, Ammonium Phosphate, etc.) All combinations are possible. It is highly efficient against Drosophila suzukii when it is bait with wine and vinegar (25%).
Easy to glue to the polyethylene bag dispensers of synthetic female attractants lures on the inside part of lateral walls, the ring with the central basket (served) makes it possible to place on a piece of DDVP, a Plug of Trimedlure or some solid baits.
TEPHRI-TRAP® is an open Trap so; when you use it for mass trapping you must use a killing agent. When you use it for monitoring a piece of double face-glued paper (8cm. x 8cm.) can be hung on the top. Thus you will not have any problems with predators (Ants and wasps, etc.). In Spain this TEPHRI TRAP is registered exclusivily for monitoring. It is free for other countries to use it for mass trapping. The traps must be placed well in advance of the fruit colour change, at a height between 1,5 – 2 m. In the south side of the tree canopy leaving it visible by removing foliage if necessary. It must be left in place until well after the harvest. The number of traps to be use depends on the farmer, but a distance of 15 – 20 m. is most advisable. When renewing the liquid attractants, please do not throw it on the ground in the orchard, as you would be creating an attraction point for the files and making the traps less effective. The trap is registered as a “clean” method for pest control. All the flies killed by this method will be reducing the use of insecticide and will improve the chances of offering healthy fruit to the consumer. TEPHRI TRAP*
